Asio madagascariensis owl
Madagascar has 258 bird species with 115 of them being endemic. There used to be giant land birds that inhabited the island that weighed over 1,100 pounds and stood ten feet tall and laid 20-pound eggs, but were driven to extinction via hunting, habitat loss, and the introduction of other species. Madagascar actually has more unique genres of birds than any other African country. 1
